BAKKA produces contemporary Fair Isle textiles: where the traditional Shetland knitwear heritage meets modern functionality.
Its aim is to promote and help preserve the cultural heritage of a uniquely Shetland product: Fair Isle knitwear.
I believe that the only way to preserve a tradition is to contemporarise it, to use it. My inspiration is drawn from the oldest 'heritage' patterns and I have replicated the traditional natural colours. But instead of using Shetland wool, BAKKA uses the world's leader in luxurious contemporary 100% superfine merino yarn. The resulting textiles are silky soft, durable and affordable.
Additionally, BAKKA's products are as sustainable as possible; economically, socially and environmentally. And they are traceable.
