Fair Isle Knitting Patterns Book by Mary Macgregor - BAKKA

Fair Isle Knitting Patterns Book by Mary Macgregor

BAKKA is pleased to offer for sale Mary Macgregor's book "Fair Isle Knitting Patterns - Reproducing the Known Work of Robert Williamson" (Shetland Times Ltd. 2009). Reprinted.

During the course of her research into Fair Isle patterns, Macgregor discovered over 60 different stencil pages of Robert Willliamson's patterns from the 1920s. In total there are over 300 patterns. She organised them according to the horizontal repeat ie how the knitter would want to find them to plan their project. At the end of the book is a summary table which shows which families of patterns can be used for a project according to the number of stitches in the project.

It is the only Fair Isle knitting book available which orders the patterns in this logical fashion.

An excellent source book, useful for beginners and more experienced knitters alike. It is printed on A4 sized thick gloss paper, ideal for frequent use. The spiral binding keeps the book open at the right page.

Here is what Annika wrote: I just received your book it is amazing, thank you. The way you ordered the patterns is the best there is, so useful. The black and white printing is clear and big enough. It is a pearl of simplicity. See the product reviews for other appreciations.

All books will be autographed, and if desired, a personal dedication can be added. There is a form to write this dedication on the cart page (instructions to BAKKA ). You can only get this dedication here.

Books will be shipped separately from any other purchase. The book price is simply the cost of the book plus postage: BAKKA makes no profit from this transaction. The price quoted includes shipping. There is no VAT.

Make sure you buy the option corresponding to the shipping address.

You now have two options for shipping to an address outside Europe: standard air mail, or international tracked and signed. Up to you to choose which method you want, according to your budget.

Thank you, Delighted, for your kind words. I am so pleased that you appreciate my book. The patterns deserved a new life, which is why I collated them and published this book in 2009. Enjoy using them in your Fair Isle projects.

Artist secrets revealed!

A lovely combination of artistry and history make this book a treasure. The pattern combinations and organization are easy to follow yet appear intricate when complete. I have used the patterns to create many hats; some for charity, some for keeps.

I am personally very touched by these kind words, Barbara! The organisation of the patterns was something which I took great trouble with. I am so pleased that you are finding the book so useful. Mary

Fair Isle Book

I love this book. Currently working on a new hat using many of the patterns. It was worth every penney. Thank you so much, Mary. A big hug from Maine.

Thanks, Patty, for this review. The book of traditional Fair Isle patterns has been selling steadily now for 10 years. The patterns are organised logically for the knitter and in black in white to make things simpler. Everyone has their own tastes in colour after all!

It even smelled nice!

I received my book promptly, in only about 10 days. It was securely wrapped and when I opened the cardboard, the most heavenly scent wafted through the air! I’m told this must only be the fresh Shetland air but I think it may be more than that. Wrapped lovingly in tissue, this book is worth every cent and more! So many wonderful patterns, I cannot wait to get started. This book is patterns only and what a treasure! Thank you Mary! All the best from Calgary 🇨🇦

We wrap the book in tissue to provide extra protection for the corners. Thank you, Tara, for this review. Glad you appreciate our Shetland air!

Perfect

Fabulous reference book. The charts are large and clear making it it very easy to read. I love the way they are organised into groups of stitch repeats and rows, making it very easy to browse for what you need. And finally being spiral bound means it lies flat or can be folded back. It’s perfectI wish all craft books came bound this way. Would highly recommend this book to anyone wanting to add some authentic Fair Isle charts to there knitting.

Thank you Mandy for this useful review.
